The Maryland Troopers Association hosted a Legislative reception on January 14, 2020, in the House Office Building. In Attendance were Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford, Colonel William Pallozzi, Superintendent, Lt. Colonel Frank Lioi, Chief, Field Operations Bureau, Lt. Colonel David Ruel, Chief, Criminal Investigation Bureau, Lt. Colonel Dalaine Brady, Chief, Support Services Bureau, Major Ret. James Hock, Chief of Staff, Major Roland Butler, Assistant Chief, Field Operations Bureau, and Captain Ret. Jack Howard, President of the MSP Alumni Association, attended the reception along with additional MSP staff.
Numerous Senators and Delegates stopped in to meet with the MTA Executive Board, Lodge Presidents, and other guests. Of particular importance is legislation that will be introduced by Senator Jack Bailey and Delegate Eric Ebersole, authorizing a property tax credit for State Troopers based on where he or she lives, not work assignment. MTA President Brian Blubaugh and Executive Director Rick Norman will meet weekly with PJ Hogan of Cornerstone Government Affairs to discuss legislation that affects Troopers, both active and retired. As needed, Sgt. Blubaugh, Captain (Ret.) Norman, Attorney Rebecca Smith, and others, to testify.
The MTA will keep everyone apprised as the Legislative Session progresses.
