Republican Candidate for Sheriff
At the next Lodge meeting on April 10, 2018, the Republican candidate for Washington County Sheriff will be attending our lodge meeting. I hope we can have a good showing and come prepared to ask a few good questions.
Brian Albert is from Clear Spring and has announced his Republican candidacy for sheriff of Washington County. Born and raised in Washington County, he has more than 26 years of law enforcement experience.
He grew up in the Clear Spring area, worked with his mother and father at the old Conococheague Grocery (Albert’s) store, and graduated from Clear Spring High School in 1985. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, he continued his public service as a law enforcement officer in 1991. Combining his love of the outdoors with his desire for public service, he chose a career with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. He graduated from the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy in 1991 and began work as an officer on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
He started in field operations as a patrol officer and was promoted to sergeant, supervising personnel in several counties. He led the Special Operations Division of Maryland Natural Resources Police, which investigates serious crimes, commercial conservation violations on both the state and federal level, and fatalities on state waters and land.
He was promoted to lieutenant and commander of operations and patrols in Montgomery, Carroll and Howard counties and the Baltimore City Marine Patrol Unit. In 2016, he was promoted to captain and assigned to serve as western regional commander for Garrett, Allegany, Washington, and Frederick counties.
With his wife Susan, they have raised two adult daughters here in Washington County. He also had a son from a previous relationship.
He has coached area youth and high school soccer and served on the Board of Trustees for the Locomotive Soccer Club. The Washington County Commissioners appointed him to the Emergency Services Board and the Parks and Recreation Board. He is a member of the Citizens Advisory, Safety/Security and the Facility Advisory committees for the Washington County Board of Education.
He has dedicated his entire adult life to public service and now if elected is promising to continue that service to the citizens of Washington County. If elected, he promises to serve our county, the communities and families within it with a fresh perspective and dedicated focus on today’s issues and your concerns.
