Message form President Gary Baker
I wanted to keep MTA Lodge 88 Members up to speed on a few things.
First order of business is concerns the Lodge Christmas party. I reached out to Mission BBQ, and they are donating two gift baskets for us to give/raffle off for our Christmas party at no cost. Each basket includes miscellaneous Mission BBQ gear and a $25 dollar gift card.
Spread the word, because it seems everyone loves Mission BBQ and this could be a draw for attendance. Also, Shaffer, your daughter is banned from drawing any raffle tickets for anyone other than myself! I need all the luck I can get.

Second, I have obtained the most current roster from the MTA Executive Board. This list is what we use for our official membership list and Lodge 88 Death Relief Fund. Please make sure your beneficiary and other contact information are up to date with the MTA Executive Board. Change forms are obtained by clicking the following link for the Maryland Troopers Association: http://www.mdtroopers.org
Third, The MTA Executive Board is making three bylaw changes. The first is concerning MTA Lodges being able to disband on their authority opposed to it being an Executive Board decision. The second bylaw change removes the mandate that you need to be a member of the closest lodge to either your residence or duty station upon retirement. The new bylaw will allow any member, current or retired, to select the Lodge of their choice. The last bylaw change addresses the formation of a Membership Committee; membership is down across the State, and the Executive Board is looking to change this trend. I have been appointed to chair the Membership Committee.
Everyone, please have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
Sr/Tpr Gary L. Baker – President MTA Lodge 88
